Who we are...
We are a licensed family childcare, serving the Frederickson area since 2006. Miss Janelle has a Bachelors Degree in Education, and takes continuing Early Childhood Classes at Pierce College every quarter. She has more than 20 years of experience working in preschools, day camps and childcare environments. She has 4 children of her own. Her daughter, Mercedes ("Miss Mercy") currently works as her assistant in the family childcare.
We consider ourselves "urban farmers" and incorporate a "farm based" philosophy into our education. This means we strive to help children learn and grow through nature. In addition to traditional classroom-style (preschool) learning and creative play, children enrolled in our program participate in some daily farm routines to gain an appreciation of the origins of food and fiber, and to learn the value of a care-taking role with plants, animals, the earth and one another. Some activities that our children are involved in are feeding and collecting eggs from our chickens, planting seeds, harvesting from our garden beds and fruit trees, and learning to make crafts and food just like farmers of old.
This is a Washington Early Achievers facility, which means that we work with the state of Washington to provide the most optimal learning environment for your child. We believe that the first 8 years of a child's life are the most important in helping to shape their entire future. This is why we are so committed to providing a quality and nurturing environment for your child to grow up in.
