Heritage Early Learning Academy is committed to providing a clean, loving, safe, affordable, high quality, and developmentally appropriate environment for toddler, preschool, and school age children of the Frederickson community in a home environment, free from the restrictions of institutional care. Our mission is to provide a premier early childhood environment which meets the developmental needs of the whole child, while inspiring them to build a lifelong connection with the natural world around them. We use the Montessori approach, which means our curriculum is emergent based on the individual child. We also agree with Malaguzzi who believed that the environment is a child's third teacher, and strive to provide a beautiful and natural environment. We are dedicated to supporting all children's desire to be life-long learners through a "hands on" approach which fosters creativity and self-expression.
Children have daily experiences with nature:
planting, tending and tasting from organic vegetable gardens;
replenishing the soil through worming and composting;
feeding, petting, and caring for chickens and pets;
exploring local nature areas on walks and hikes;
building and creating art with seeds, mud, feathers, twigs and other natural items
discovering that our actions matter – that we all have a lasting impact on the natural world around us.
